Director Takes Education to a Whole New Level!

Platt Central’s very own director took education to a whole new level today when he agreed to let the Surgical Technologist students “ shave and prep” him for surgery.  Students are required to perform this procedure during their program and since there are no gentlemen in their class they decided to present their dilemma to Joey Keefer.  Their idea: as a fundraiser for JDRF, they would collect money from students and staff that would like to witness Joey having his chest “prepped and shaved” for a mach surgery.  Joey, thinking that this was a little too much immediately said “no”, but after a little thought, he decided that he would “take one for the team” and agreed, with the stipulation that the students would have to raise $200.  Well, as you can see, raising the money was not a problem, it seems as though people are willing to shell out the bucks when it comes to having a little fun at the expense of the campus director.

Where the Rubber hits the ground!

Practical Nursing Freshmen students were putting their knowledge of mobility aids to good use when they had a relay race using crutches and walkers.  Each student had the opportunity to use crutches or a walker to sprint across the Platt Central lawn and help their team to victory.   Fun was had by all and no bumps or broken bones occurred during the skills lab activity.

Central Oklahoma Heart Walk

For the past several months Platt North, Platt Central, Platt Lawton, and Platt Moore have dedicated their time to raise money to benefit the American Heart Assocaition. The fundraisers were a huge success, and we were able to raise approximatley $3800. We greatly appreciate everyone that donated their time and effort to help make the fundraisers such a succes.

The walk took place on Saturday, April 21 at the Bricktown Ballpark.  We had a great turnout of staff, faculty, and students that walked on the Platt College Team.

Welcome New Students!

On February 22nd, Platt Central welcomed the newest class of Evening Practical Nursing students. These students have chosen Platt College to help them on their journey to becoming the best nurse they can be!

New Dental Assistant students jump right in...on their second morning of classes they are already learning how to take impressions.  Learning the proper technique of mixing the solution and then setting the impression in their own mouth or some other lucky volunteer.

Platt North Bake Sale for the American Heart Association

Platt College North had a bake sale on February 14, to raise money for the Central Oklahoma Heart Walk. Students as well as graduates helped prepare chocolate dipped strawberries, truffles, red velvet cupcakes, and cake pops. The bake sale was a huge success, and we were able to raise $1400 for the American Heart Association. We appreciate all of the volunteers that helped make this fundraiser such a success.
