Thanksgiving Lunch for Students

On Wednesday, November 23, the Culinary Department at Platt College North prepared a Thanksgiving meal to all students. The students gathered in the Restaurant, Chefs di Domani, to enjoy lunch before going out on break. We hope the students have a good break and a Happy Thanksgiving.

A BIG Thank you goes out to Barbara Effinger from Platt/OHA Loan Services for taking time out to speak to our students about the Scholarship Opportunities that are available.  Mentioning FREE Money certainly got our students attention.  The room was overflowing with standing room only excited to hear what she had to offer.  Barbara gave the students valuable information about where to search the Internet for scholarships, how to get started, how to avoid scholarship scams, and  what NOT to do! She ended with:

Penny Wars were a HUGE success!

Penny Wars were a HUGE success!  During the month of October, students teamed up to raise money to benefit Infant Crisis Services.  Platt Central students raised $496.80 which was used to purchase  121.5 pounds of in-kinds goods for the babies and toddlers of Infant Crisis Services. That is a amazing total! This included 1620 diapers which will diaper 45 babies for 1 week. Also purchased was 4 toddler size coats, 16 sippy cups and 63 bottles.  Infant Crisis Services would not be able to serve these babies without the support of the community.

Bedlam for Babies

Platt College North is hosting a Baby Item Drive Benefiting Infant Crisis Services. Bedlam for Babies is the utlimate face-off between Oklahoma's two largest univeristies. Infant Crisis Services is challenging fans from both teams to collect necessitities for babies and toddlers that are at risk of going hungry. Platt College North students gathered to decorate boxes for each team. Each student that donates an item will receive a coupon for a free item at McDonalds. All donations with help eliminate childhood hunger in our community. Items in need include: Good Start Soy and Good Start Plus Formulas, Diapers, Baby Shampoo, Baby Wipes, Baby Bottles, and Gently Used Toys. Drop off all items in the lobby at Platt College North.
